Qatar Airways has contracted SR Technics to upgrade the cabins of seven Airbus A330-200s.
The agreement covers a full cabin reconfiguration with new seats and installation of Panasonic’s eX2 in-flight entertainment system, says the Swiss MRO provider.
The IFE equipment will give passengers broadband access and certain mobile-phone capabilities.
The aircraft will be processed at SR Technics’ base in Zürich, where the work will run from this month until July 2014.
The maintenance provider – a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi’s Mubdala Aerospace consortium – has a long-standing relationship with Qatar Airways, which is now being expanded to complex cabin modifications, says André Wall, SR Technics' president.
Qatar Airways operates 19 A330-200s and 13 A330-300s, Flightglobal's Ascend Online database shows.
