UK engine manufacturer Rolls Royce has signed an agreement with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to establish an on-line engine maintenance training centre at Tianjin.

The centre, planned to open in 1996, will provide training to support R-R RB.211-535 and Tay engines in service with Chinese airlines. It will also offer training to other regional R-R engine users outside China.

R-R and the CAAC will initially staff the custom-built centre jointly. Longer-term planning calls for the CAAC to take responsibility for most of the training.
