British Columbia's Murphy Aircraft is flight testing the SR3500, a radial-engined development of its Super Rebel kitplane. The four-to six-seat SR3500 features an increased, 1,590kg (3,500lb) gross weight to handle the 270kW (360hp) M-14P9 radial engine. Fitted at customer request, because it is cheaper than the basic SR2500's Textron Lycoming engine, the more powerful Polish radial increases the aircraft's useful load to almost 800kg. Murphy is shipping kits and expects the first customer-completed aircraft to fly by late next year.
