Raytheon Aircraft is seeking to certificate its new Hawker 4000 super mid-size business jet with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) in anticipation of sales to Chinese operators. The manufacturer has just begun the process of sending a certification application to the CAAC and expects the Hawker 4000 to be approved in China in six to nine months. It is in the final stages of certificating the aircraft with the US Federal Aviaton Administration.

Raytheon may try to accelerate the Chinese certification process if it secures an order from a Chinese operator. It says several Chinese operators have expressed interest in the 4000 and new Hawker 850XP, which was certificated by the FAA this month. Five Hawker 800XPs and one Beechcraft Premier I are already operating in China.

Meanwhile, Raytheon has delivered the first Hawker 850XP business jet to US grocery company C&S Wholesale Grocers. The handover comes a month after the mid-size aircraft received US certification.
