Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA) is to lease two new Airbus A319s next year and will drop its deferred order for two A319s placed directly with Airbus in 1998.
The International Aero Engines V2500-powered aircraft will be delivered in August and September, on seven-year leases from CIT Aerospace. RBA is being restructured under new management and chief executive Peter Foster says the A319s' introduction is "the start of what is likely to be a significant refleeting exercise". The A319s will replace two Boeing 757-200s and enable regional flights to be operated "with greater efficiency".
