Rockwell Collins is to expand its in-flight entertainment (IFE) business by acquiring Sony Trans Com. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. The Sony purchase, revealed by Flight International last month, provides Rockwell with an established customer base in the narrowbody IFE hardware market, but gives Rockwell competing interactive IFE systems for widebodies (Flight International, 18-24 April).
