The Rolls-Royce Turboméca RTM322 turbo shaft has been selected to power the 67 Westland/McDonnell Douglas WAH-64 Longbow Apaches ordered by the UK. The RTM322 replaces the General Electric T700, which is fitted to all other versions of the attack helicopter. An engine integration programme, is scheduled to be carried, out using a US Army prototype aircraft.
The RTM322 is also being offered for the EH Industries EH101 and NH Industries NH90 helicopters. Other potential applications for the engine include the Sikorsky S-92 Helibus, initial versions of which will be powered by General Electric's CT7 turbo shaft.
