Flight International online news 08:00 GMT: Jordan’s government has put the Royal Jordanian Airlines training and simulation division up for sale as part of its continuing privatisation of non-core aviation assets.

The division – known as Jordan Airline Training and Simulation (JATS) – was established in April 2000 as a separate company in preparation for a sale.

JATS has Airbus A310 and A320 as well as Boeing 727 simulators together with computer-based training and specialised cabin-safety facilities.

It presently serves around 35 customers, offering flight- and cabin-crew training as well as instruction in the technical and commercial sectors.

Jordan’s executive privatisation committee has set an 11 August deadline for interested parties to submit expressions of interest.

While the committee has not specified how much of the division will be sold, the Government has typically released an 80% shareholding in Royal Jordanian’s sister companies.

Several Royal Jordanian Airlines activities, such as catering, maintenance, duty-free and the local air academy, have been privatised as part of the Government’s efforts to focus on the carrier’s flight operations. The airline itself is also set to be privatised.
