The Russian Aerospace Agency (RASA) is seeking 65 billion roubles in government funding towards its 180 billion rouble ($6.5 billion) civil aviation development programme. The scheme, which covers the period to 2015 and should create 500,000 jobs, faces competition from 200 other projects, with only 10 likely to be granted federal status. The programme has already been approved by the Russian parliament and National Security Council. Required funding next year is 3 billion roubles, with only a third likely to be approved - although this would still represent a 5% increase on the current year.
