Irish carrier Ryanair is looking for financing to cover 11 Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which will be supported by the US Export Import bank, banking sources indicate.
The airline has issued a request for proposal for financing to the market for five aircraft to be delivered this year and six units arriving in 2013.
Separately, the carrier said yesterday during an earnings results conference it is likely to again keep around 80 aircraft grounded this winter rather than operate them at a loss over the season.
The carrier's annual profits improved by 25% and revenues were up by 19% for the year to March 2012. The increased revenue came despite the airline grounding aircraft over the winter.
Chief executive Michael O'Leary described the grounding as a practical response to high oil prices during the low-season winter months.
