Saab is partnering with Italian manufacturer Geven to introduce a new seat for the Saab 340 and Saab 2000 turboprops.

Geven and Saab unveiled the new seat design to Saab operators last year, and in its latest market report Saab Aircraft Leasing outlined some of the proposed seat's new features.

The seats are roughly 10-15% lighter than the typical existing seats in the two turboprop models, and use fewer parts by using the same elements in both single and double seats.

Primary structures of the seats are made with a high-strength aluminium alloy structure, said Saab.

Saab also states an "ancillary product of the redesigned seat backs includes extra legroom creating a new level of passenger comfort".

Geven is also supplying the seats for first and economy class on the new ATR 72-600.
