Eurocopter has delivered a single EC145 helicopter to the Malaysian province of Sabah, for use in the emergency medical airlift role.
"Helicopters have been playing a role in saving lives in many situations for decades now, and they are unbeatable for point-to-point speed," says Pang Yuk Ming, the chairman of Sabah Air Aviation, the operator of the helicopter.
"When lives hang in balance, a helicopter air ambulance may be the difference between life and death. We are now looking forward to putting the EC145 into service."
According to Eurocopter, the mid-sized, twin-engine EC145 has a compact footprint and high-set main rotor, making it suitable for operations in confined landing zones.
