British Midland's parent, Airlines of Britain Holdings, has hired Frank Turner, the former managing director of Lucas Aerospace, to oversee the group's maintenance and engineering operation. The new post was created following a review of procedures after bad maintenance led to an emergency landing by a B737 last year - the airline was fined US$230,000 for the incident in July.
