The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) have entered a new working arrangement on aviation maintenance (WA-AM).
CAAS says the latest working arrangement is the fourth signed with EASA, and falls under the ambit of the CAAS-EASA memorandum of understanding signed in February 2012.
The latest WA-AM establishes a framework between the agencies to exchange information on compliance with regulatory requirements related to aircraft maintenance organisations (AMO), and on oversight of such AMOs in Singapore and Europe.
CAAS says the framework will facilitate the initial issuance or continuation of certificates for the AMOs by CAAS and EASA, and reduce regulatory compliance costs while also enhancing safety.
Earlier in July 2017, both parties agreed on a third WA-AM deal, where both agencies are able to validate and accept each other's design certifications and approvals of aircraft parts, as well as aircraft modifications and repairs.
