The US Department of Defense may cancel the US Air Force's Boeing E-10 Multi-sensor Command and Control Aircraft (MC2A). Loren Thompson, of the Lexington Institute think-tank, says undersecretary of defence for intelligence Stephen Cambone believes a space-based radar augmented by unmanned air vehicles would provide better tracking of ground vehicles. The Boeing 767-400ER-based MC2A is intended to replace the Northrop Grumman E-8 JSTARS and Boeing E-3 AWACS aircraft.
