The Support Chain Management Division (SCM) of the Claverham Group (Hall 3-A14) arrives at Farnborough with a commitment to extend its SCM concept into new areas of logistics management.
The SCM Division was established to revolutionise the relationship between equipment suppliers and the military aircraft operational customer. Under the terms of this procurement initiative payments are made to the supplier according to operational availability rather than for repairs following a break down.
Current applications of the SCM concept include a £60 million contract to cover flight control actuators on the RAF's Tornado fleet.
Recently appointed SCM Division Managing Director Alan Fisher believes the concept will be extended to cover a wider market, he says: "The Ministry of Defence has been very impressed with the savings the application of SCM principles has achieved. As a result we are being encouraged to explore further applications."
