The newly-upgraded Sukhoi Su-25 Scorpion aircraft, the result of successful collaboration between Elbit Systems of Haifa, Israel and the aircraft's original manufacturer, TAM of Tblisi, Georgia, will be on view in flight and on the ground at Le Bourget. Designed for close air support, the Su-25 can engage low speed air targets at the forward edge and nearest tactical and operational depths. It offers a versatile arsenal of both Western and Eastern weapons, mountable on 10 pylons. The upgraded aircraft is fitted with protective features, assuring increased survivability even in the harshest scenarios, claims Sukhoi. The platform is fully compliant with ICAO and NATO requirements.

Advanced

The modernised Su-25 is equipped with an advanced avionics system, including Weapon Delivery and Navigation (WDNS). The state-of-the-art cockpit features two 6x8in (15x18cm) multi-color LCD displays, and a head-up display (HUD). Over 800 Scorpions are in service worldwide. The comprehensive upgrade elevates the aircraft's operational performance and versatility to meet modern battlefield challenges and specific needs of potential customers. The Su-25's maiden flight on 18 April was witnessed by Georgian president Eduard Shevardnadze and senior government and military officials as well as representatives from Elbit Systems, ELGAD and TAM.
