Hong Kong's Airport Authority is seeking additional funds to begin construction of a second runway for the territory's new airport at Chek Lap Kok (CLK). It reportedly now wants to begin work on the three-year project before the airport opens in April 1998, rather than after, as was originally planned. Studies indicate that CLK's single-runway will be near to capacity soon after opening.
