Lufthansa Technik (LHT) has announced its second VIP Boeing 747-400 completion contract this year with an order from an unidentified Middle Eastern head of state.
Work on the retrofit will begin in Hamburg this month and the aircraft is due to be handed over to the customer in early 2002. The 747 will be equipped with a "VIP cabin interior which includes state-of-the-art entertainment and communication systems", says LHT.
The German company says the undisclosed buyer has had aircraft maintained by LHT for the past 20 years, and is negotiating a total support package for the latest addition to his fleet.
