Selex Galileo has won a contract worth about €4 million ($4.9 million) to supply Mirach 100/5 target drones to an undisclosed customer.

Announced during the Farnborough air show, the deal will equip the unnamed nation with "targets, ground control station and mission management system". The same operator has been using Mirach targets for the past four years under a service contract, the company adds.

"Having conducted a number of flight campaigns with other potential customers, we are confident we will see further sales in the coming months," says Selex Galileo chief executive Fabrizio Giulianini.

A reusable target with a firing weight of about 330kg (727lb), the Mirach 100/5 can achieve a top speed of Mach 0.85 and execute manoeuvres up to a limit of 8g.
