Selex Galileo has been awarded a follow-on contract to supply electro-optical/infrared sensors for the UK Royal Air Force's growing fleet of Boeing CH-47 Chinook transport helicopters.
Worth £10.8 million ($16.8 million), the new deal covers the delivery of 20 turret-housed Titan 385ES-HD high-definition sensors, Selex says. Equipment deliveries will be made between this year and throughout 2013, it adds.
The order follows a 2009 deal worth more than £10 million, under which Selex was contracted to produce 21 Titan HD turrets and modify four other systems to the same standard for the RAF's Chinook fleet. The company says it completed this work in December 2011.
Multi-sensor turrets contained within the new contract are intended for integration with the RAF's current CH-47s, and for its new batch of 14 Chinook HC6s, the first of which should enter service during 2016.
