Meggitt company Vibro-Meter has signed an agreement with Boeing for the development of an advanced engine vibration monitoring system (AEVM).

Phase one will involve units for retro-fit on B737-300 aircraft as well as current B737-900 airframes using the CFM56 engine.

The AEVM monitors the vibration signatures of the engine and parameters like flight condition, rotational speed and temperatures. This data is analysed and by storing it digitally it highlights significant problems before they become serious.
