Aviation communications provider Arinc is taking on rival Sita in the Middle East with an office in Dubai, its first in the region. The Annapolis, Maryland- based company aims to grow its share of the Middle East airline and airport market from less than 10% by competing on "price and technology", says regional director Paul Fennelly. Many of the region's big airlines, including Emirates, are Sita customers, but Fennely says new carriers and airport expansion will provide opportunities to sell in-flight entertainment and IT systems.
