SIA Engineering subsidiary SIAEC Global has signed a memorandum of understanding with Bahrain's Gulf Technics to set up a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Bahrain.
The two companies will work towards a definitive agreement to establish the facility, says SIA Engineering.
Gulf Technics, a sister company of Gulf Air, is a MRO company which will be set up in Bahrain International Airport. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mumtalakat Holding, Bahrain's investment arm.
"The establishment of a maintenance base in Bahrain will serve the needs of airlines in the Middle East to avail of high quality engineering services. The base will also be a springboard to the MRO markets in North Africa and Europe," says SIA Engineering's CEO William Tan.
The two companies signed the memorandum of understanding at the Bahrain International Airshow.
"This new maintenance facility adds another crucial component to the services on offer and will be vital in helping to attract new airlines to use Bahrain International Airport," says Mumtalakat's CEO Talal Al-Zain.
