Pratt & Whitney has made SIA Engineering a partner in the risk revenue sharing programme for the PW1000G geared turbofan (GTF) engine programme.
Scheduled to enter service in 2013, the engine will power Bombardier CSeries and Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) aircraft.
SIA Engineering will have a 3% and 1% stake in the risk revenue sharing programme for the CSeries and MRJ engines respectively, says the company.
Its Singapore-based engine MRO joint venture with P&W, Eagle Services Asia, will also be the first engine shop in the world recognised by P&W for CSeries engine work, adds SIA Engineering.
P&W chose Eagle Services Asia because the US company wanted to make use of the existing infrastructure that it has at the Singapore engine MRO, says P&W Commercial Engines & Global Services president Todd Kallman.
