Sikorsky can claim its S-92 is a star in more ways than one. The helicopter is to feature in a new Hollywood blockbuster called "Deeds," starring Adam Sandler and Winona Ryder.

The film, due for release next year, is a re-make of Frank Capra's 1936 classic "Mr Deeds Goes to Town," with screen legend Gary Cooper in the lead role.

In the remake, Sandler plays Longfellow Deeds, the heir to a multi-billion-dollar empire. The S-92 is used to transport Deeds to and from various locations, including a New Hampshire farm, a rooftop helipad and a fast-food restaurant. The film will be directed by Steve Brill.

The aircraft involved, prototype No 2, flew north from Sikorsky's Florida test centre to the company's Connecticut base for the filming. It then commuted to movie in north-west Connecticut and New York State.
