Simcom International has begun operating the first simulator to be available for the Pilatus PC-12. The Orlando, Florida-based company is the exclusive provider of simulator training for the single-turboprop aircraft and built the training device in house.

The simulator is qualified initially as a Level 5 flight training device, with Level 6 approval, which provides greater training credits, expected later this year. The device includes fully operational electronic flight-instrument and global positioning systems, and features Simcom's 180°-wide daylight visual system.

The Orlando centre is now providing initial and recurrent training using the device. The initial course includes 10h simulator time over six days, while the recurrent course includes 6h over three days. An advanced refresher course is available providing 6h simulator time over two days, Simcom says.

The company specialises in providing simulator training on piston twins and turboprops.
