Singapore-based aircraft lessor BOC Aviation has ordered five A330-200 freighters from Airbus.

The deal was announced today at the Singapore Airshow and BOC Aviation says the aircraft are to be delivered in 2012 and 2013. No engine selection is mentioned.

It is the first time BOC Aviation has ordered freighter aircraft directly from a manufacturer.

“This order reflects our confidence in strong future demand for widebody production freighter aircraft,” it says.

BOC Aviation, formerly Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise, is owned by Bank of China.
