China's Hainan Airlines has decided to sign a long-term contract with Thales to support the avionics system on its Airbus A340-600s.
"The six-year agreement is a component service based on standard equipment exchange," says Thales, adding that "within the scope of the avionics-by-the-hour contract, Thales will take care of all aspects of Hainan's specific A340-600 components under a single package."
This includes the provision and storage of on-site components located at Hainan's main base in Haikou" as well as access to a pool of spare parts plus component repair on a flight-hour basis, it says.
Thales says it already works closely with Hainan because the carrier chose Thales' in-flight entertainment (IFE) system for its Airbus A330s and Boeing B787s.
