Singapore has requested proposals for a fighter-training system which will include simulators for the Lockheed Martin F-16, McDonnell Douglas A-4S and Northrop F-5E. Bids are due in by mid-December.

Bidders could include CAE Electronics, Hughes Training, and Lockheed Martin with Thomson Training &Simulation. The Integrated Fighter Training (IFT) contract will include an operational flight-trainer for the F-16, plus reconfigurable devices able to represent all three aircraft types.

Up to 12 networked machines could be needed. Singapore airspace is limited, so most teaching is done abroad. The IFT system will allow in-country training.
