Sir - The Chinese XXJ (Flight International, 12-18 March, P15) can hardly "-be referred to as the F-12 in China" - that designation having already been applied to the NAMC J-12 (F-12) light short-take- off-and- landing fighter first flown in 1970 and again, in improved form, in 1975. Six prototypes were produced but "-because it hasn't radar, and hasing [sic] weaker firepower the air force hasn't equipped with it" , says the placard in front of a J-12 displayed at the China Air Museum at Da Tang Shan, north of Beijing.
