The launch of Loral Skynet's Telstar 9 communications satellite will be delayed until 2004, to enable it to be equipped with Ka-band transponders, adding to its suite of Ku and C-band transponders. Telstar 9 will now replace Telstar 6 at 93°W in geostationary orbit, rather than be located at the originally planned 69°W position.
