French engine manufacturer SMA Engines has received European certification for the uprated version of its SR305 diesel-cycle piston engine as it approaches supplementary type certification on several general aviation types.

The European Aviation Safety Agency approved the re-rating of the EADS/Renault/Snecma joint-venture's engine last month. The maximum continuous power of the SR305-230 is now 230hp (170kW), up from the original 200hp, and is now certificated for 230hp throughout flight.
