A number of accidents occurred in early January. The two crew of an Aeroservice International Polish Airlines Let 410 on a 13 January ferry flight were killed when the aircraft crashed on its approach in fog to Brno Airport, Czech Republic. On 11 January, a THY Turkish Airlines Aero International (Regional) Avroliner RJ100 overran the runway at Samsun Airport, Turkey. None of the six crew or 68 passengers was hurt. A LACSA (Costa Rica) Airbus Industrie A320 overran the runway at Millbrea, California on 10 January after the pilot aborted the take-off; and a Southern Air Transport Lockheed L100-30 freighter overran the Merkoyuk, Alaska, runway, but the crew were unharmed.
