Snow Aviation has completed initial flight tests of Hamilton Sundstrand’s eight-blade NP2000 propeller on a company-owned Lockheed Martin C-130E. The NP2000 is being offered to replace the four-blade 54H60 propeller, increasing performance and improving reliability.

Eight blades boost performance

The unit is now being fitted to US Navy Northrop Grumman E-2C Hawkeyes and will be flight tested on the Grumman C-2A Greyhound this year.

Columbus, Ohio-based Snow specialises in C-130 upgrades, having developed and flown a glass cockpit, wing-tip fuel tanks and an unmanned air vehicle launch and recovery system. Founder Harry Snow says the company is now designing a replacement wing that will extend life and increase gross weight and payload.
