Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) will launch its European low-fare leisure arm Snowflake this week. The separately branded division will start with four 150-seat Boeing 737-800s transferred from the mainline fleet, on a network to 15 European points from Copenhagen and Stockholm.

"Pilots and cabin crew are from SAS. However, this is a separate business unit, standing on its own feet," says Eva-Karin Dahl, SAS's director of business and concept development, who is responsible for Snowflake.

The airline will offer a simplified cabin service with fares starting at Skr580 ($68).

Destinations will include Alicante, Athens, Barcelona, Bologna, Budapest, Dublin, Istanbul, Lisbon, Malaga, Nice, Palma de Mallorca, Pristina, Prague, Rome and Sarajevo.
