UrtheCast (booth 3910) is launching at the show a contest to create the "ultimate overview of the Earth". The competition will seek to find, and store on the UrtheCast platform, the "greatest and most inspiring aerial views of the Earth" and reward entrants with prizes including quadcopters and cash prizes of up to $1,000.
UrtheCast (pronounced "EarthCast") aims to provide the world's first live video feed of Earth from space by mounting specialist, high-definition video cameras on the Russian module of the International Space Station.
"We want to see what you've seen from the sky - the thought-provoking, the beautiful, the artistic and the majestic," says Urthecast. "Whether you capture these moments from a UAV, helium balloon, remote control aircraft, DIY drone or just your simple old smartphone, upload the footage via the online UrtheCast portal and you will be in with a chance of an amazing prize or a pile of cash."
The competition starts today and will run for two months. Entrants are required to provide geo location information automatically tagged on to their data via their cameras as well as manually via a specific pinpoint on a map and a brief description when uploading the data. Entries will be featured on line for public voting, and UrtheCast will select the three grand-prize winners.
