Spar Aerospace has been awarded three space contracts to support the International Space Station (ISS), as well as Hughes communications satellite projects. An $18.6 million contract from L3 Communications has been secured by the Canadian companyto supply a second Ku-band high-gain antenna for use on the ISS.
Additional funding, worth $20 million, has been received from NASA to perform more work on the ISS robotic workstation. The increase brings to $50 million the value of the contract.
Spar Aerospace is building two flight workstations and the extra work covers new software requirements.
The company has signed a long-term agreement with Hughes to conduct final acceptance testing and thermal vacuum testing of a full flight set of 20 travelling wave tube amplifiers, bringing to $1 million the total value of this type of work for Hughes-built communications satellites.
