ST Aerospace secured S$520 million ($419.3 million) worth of contracts in the second quarter of 2014.
These includes a five-year agreement with an unnamed regional US carrier for the heavy maintenance of 42 Embraer E170s and E175s at its San Antonio facility, says the MRO firm.
Overall, ST Aerospace re-delivered 229 aircraft from airframe maintenance and modification work during the period. Besides airframe work, 1,191 components, 56 landing gears and 49 engines were processed. In addition, 2,505 engines washes were conducted for both commercial and military clients.
The MRO provider’s airframe facility has secured Part 145 certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the European Safety Agency and the US Federal Aviation Administration, allowing it to provide maintenance services to aircraft operators from the three regions.
At its Singapore home, ST Aerospace is setting up new repair and overhaul capabilities for the first batch of UTC Aerospace Systems’ electrical and air management system components installed on Boeing 787s. It has also begun using 3D printing for rapid prototyping and small scale production of parts.
Concurrently, its Scandinavian facility has added new component capabilities for Airbus A330s, Boeing 737s and 767s.
Meanwhile, ST Aerospace has been awarded a contract extension by Chinese carrier Juneyao Airlines to train another 40 cadet pilots while its US subsidiary VT Aerospace has taken a 100% equity interest in Aviation Academy of America, to grow the pilot training business, it adds.
