British Airways is axing its routes to St Petersburg and Kiev this winter.

The UK flag carrier says its services from London Heathrow to both cities will cease on 3 October. It says both routes are "no longer commercially viable".

The IAG owned airline says it will offer customers the option to rebook flights with other carriers.

Cirium schedules data shows that BA is the only airline operating services between London Heathrow and St Petersburg, while Aeroflot offers flights to the Russian city from London Gatwick.

Wizz offers a service to Kiev from London Luton, while Ryanair serves the Ukrainian capital from London Stansted and Ukraine International Airways from London Gatwick.
