IndiGo parent Interglobe Aviation has disclosed the appointment of Ronojoy Dutta as the Indian low-cost carrier's new chief executive.
Airline founder Rahul Bhatia has been acting in the role since the departure of long-serving chief Aditya Ghosh last summer.
In a stock-market statement, Interglobe today says the board has approved the appointment of Dutta as chief, with immediate effect.
A former United Airlines president, Dutta has been given a five-year term as IndiGo's head. He was also previously president of Indian low-cost carrier Air Sahara between 2005 and 2008.
Meleveetil Damodaran has meanwhile been named as chairman of fast-expanding IndiGo, which on 23 January posted a sharp decline in its third-quarter profit amid currency and fuel cost pressures.
