Air Inter has kicked off an aggressive fare-cutting campaign in an attempt to win back some of the 397,000 passengers lost - around 8% of annual volume - during a series of strikes between February and May. Passengers will be offered a Fr100 ($20) fare on any route within France between 6 and 21 June. The domestic airline now faces competition on all of its major routes and 80% of Air Inter's previous monopoly on French domestic routes is now open to competition from either the TGV high-speed train or from newly liberated French airlines.
