The decision by Philippine Airlines to switch its remaining 747 orders to the 777 means Boeing has closed its 747-400 passenger programme as there are no more on order. This means that the 1,358th 747-400 (MSN33737/B-18215 pictured departing from Los Angeles), delivered to China Airlines in April 2005, was the last passenger 747-400 to be built. The next passenger variant will not now be delivered until entry into service of the first Lufthansa 747-8I in the second quarter of 2010. The last 747-400ERF is, meanwhile, expected to be delivered, probably to Loadair, in late 2009 around the same time as the initial 747-8Fs enter service with launch customer Cargolux.
