TAG Farnborough Airport has been granted permission from the UK government to double movements at the UK's only dedicated business aviation airport at weekends, although the facility's annual movement ceiling of 28,000 remains unchanged.
The decision ends a protracted battle with local government run Rushmoor Borough Council which last year rejected pleas from the TAG Aviation-owned facility to increase movements during this popular period as it had reached the 2,500 movements ceiling and was being forced to turn away traffic.
"The original planning permission allowed 2,500 at weekends; this has now been increased to 5,000, says TAG Farnborough Airport chief executive, Brandon O'Reilly."This ruling means that Farnborough will be able to satisfy more of the substantial demand from business aviation aircraft at weekends, thereby making better use of existing infrastructure."
