FAST-GROWING BRAZILIAN regional carrier TAM (Transportes Aereos Regionais) has placed another repeat order for the Rolls-Royce Tay 650-powered Fokker 100 twinjet.

The latest order, for eight aircraft, will bring its Fokker fleet to 23 aircraft, the third-largest after American Airlines and USAir.

Another order, for six Fokker 100s from an unspecified customer, has swelled the orderbook for the JetLine range, which includes the smaller Tay 620-powered Fokker 70, to 357 aircraft.

TAM has also placed a firm order for ten Fokker 50 turboprops, providing a further boost for the financially troubled Dutch manufacturer. The Fokker 50s will replace the seven older F27-500/600 Friendships in the TAM fleet during 1996.
