The Polish air force academy in Deblin has received its first pair of SW-4 "Tawny Owl" light primary training helicopters from PZL Swidnik. The air force is due to receive another 20 five-seat, Rolls-Royce Allison 250-powered SW-4s by late 2009. The aircraft are equipped with dual flight control systems and night vision goggle-compatible avionics suites. Polish helicopter pilots are currently trained using fuel-thirsty Mil Mi-2 Hoplites.
