Finmeccanica subsidiary Telespazio signed an agreement at LIMA with Malaysian satellite service provider AKRIZ to set up a regional aerospace centre in the Malaysian state of Perak. The centre will be used to receive data from Telespazio’s new Cosmo-SkyMed radar observation satellite constellation. The four-satellite constellation will be launched starting in late 2006 and the Malaysian centre will give Telespazio, which earlier unveiled plans for centres in Italy, France and French Guyana, full global coverage. The agreement signed in LIMA is the conversion of a memorandum of understanding inked in July and includes the provision of satellite services to Malaysia and other South-East Asian countries.
