The US General Accounting Office (GAO) says that the Department of Defense requires better targets for more effective testing of the Lockheed Martin Theater High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) weapon which is designed to engage theatre ballistic missiles at high altitudes and long ranges. A GAO report suggests that unless better targets can be used, the THAAD's capability against more-advanced threats cannot be guaranteed.
