Thai Airways International plans to spend 1.1 billion baht ($33.5 million) to upgrade the in-flight entertainment (IFE) system on eight Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
To be completed within two years, the upgrade is expected to increase the airline's revenue to about 2.4 billion baht, says the airline.
Under the plan, the IFE system in economy class on the aircraft will be upgraded to the existing business class IFE system.
"The upgrade aims to boost competitiveness and improve customer satisfaction, which the board has considered as investment worthy in terms of financial and commercial values, equivalent to the internal rate of return of 14%," adds the carrier.
Thai will operate the 777-200s on high-demand regional services, including those to Tokyo, Osaka, Hong Kong and Kathmandu, says the airline.
