Thai Airways International plans to file a lawsuit this week against Japanese seat manufacturer Koito to seek compensation for failing to deliver seats for its new aircraft.
The Star Alliance carrier is in the process of drafting the legal documents and is likely to sign off on them within the next two days, says a senior executive in the airline.
Thai is expected to seek about 16.4 billion baht ($550 million) in damages, say local reports.
Koito had failed to deliver new seats to several airlines, after it was found to have falsified safety test results on its seats. It was ordered by the Japanese government last year to review its business operations.
The seat manufacturer had been due to supply seats for Thai's new A330 and A380 aircraft, but did not do so on time. The airline has since selected alternative seat suppliers.
